In the most recent FIFA Women’s ranking, which was revealed on Friday, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have risen eight positions to 32nd in the world and 1st in Africa.
Prior to the World Cup, the squad was rated 40th in the rankings that were made public in June.
Only Morocco, who increased their points by 104.22 to go from 1334.08 to 1438.3 and move up 58 places in the global rankings, had a higher point gain than the Super Falcons, who went from 1554.94 to 1649.08.
Nigeria had a successful tournament in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, finishing second in the group stage without dropping a match before losing 4-2 on penalties to the Lionesses of England to end their tournament run.
Sweden, which finished third at the World Cup, is currently rated first in the world.
Spain, who won the World Cup, is currently rated second in the world, behind only the USA, England, and France, who round out the top 5.
