As suspected hoodlums attacked the Isiokolo Divisional Police station on Thursday night, one police officer was shot dead and another was wounded in Isiokolo, the administrative centre of the Ethiope East local government area in Delta state.
According to information obtained by Vanguard, a group of young guys on motorcycles assaulted the police station and began firing randomly. One police officer was killed instantly, while another was wounded by bullets.
DSP Bright Edafe, the state police public relations officer, verified the tragic occurrence while denying claims that the criminals stole an AK-47 gun from the dead cop.
DSP Edafe said that the wounded policeman was being treated at an unnamed hospital.
At the station, no police rifles were taken. At the police station, some people were shot; one police officer died, and another was wounded”, he said.
At the time of publication, it remained unclear why the criminals broke into the police station.
