The payment of N700 million to pay the tuition for 7,000 Kano natives attending Bayero University Kano has been approved by the Kano State Executive Council.
The Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative also received N854 million in funding.

According to the governor, the State Executive Council decided to approve N700m for Kano students attending the BUK on Wednesday in response to the nation’s economic situation.
The Kano State Executive Council, led by myself, today authorised the release of the amount of N700 million to cover tuition fees for 7,000 students at Bayero University Kano, the governor said. “As part of our efforts to cushion the biting effects of our current economic reality,” the governor added.

The Kano State Executive Council authorised the transfer of N854 million for the first phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative on Wednesday, the governor noted on Thursday; the creation of a special committee to resolve pension arrears owed to Kano State Civil Service pensioners and the renovation of three pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.”
