The Sokoto Sultanate Council, along with President Bola Tinubu, have congratulated His Eminence, Sultan of Sokoto Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his upcoming 67th birthday on August 24, 2023. He is regarded as the Spiritual Leader of Muslims in Nigeria.
The President shared the moment of joy and thanksgiving with the leader of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order, who also serves as Head of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (Society for the Support of Islam) and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
President Tinubu commended the Sultan of Sokoto’s sacrifices and devotion, saying that since taking office in November 2006, he has diligently worked for the sustenance of peaceful co-existence in the country, and beyond, personally traveling, intervening, mediating, and chairing meetings on the need for harmony.
The President praises Sultan for his “magnanimity, friendliness, and neighbourly outlook on life, seizing every opportunity to educate citizens on the advantages of amity in society, while providing platforms for strengthening Nigeria’s unity, such as establishing the Peace Accord for elections as a member of the National Peace Committee.
“As the venerable former military officer, who served the nation meritoriously, clocks 67, the President believes his wealth of experience will continuously be an asset for the steady progress of the nation with a particular emphasis on bridging religious, ethnic, and cultural divides,” the president said.
President Tinubu prayed for His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, to live for many more years in health, strength, and wisdom.
