Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the February 25 presidential election, has predicted that his group will triumph in the Imo State governorship election on November 11.
Speaking during the launch of the party’s campaigns in the state on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital, Obi claimed that the LP is renowned for performance and excellence.
According to Obi, the people of Abia State now have hope and are experiencing good administration since a “first-class brain” who is knowledgeable in his field is now the governor of the state, which his party controls.
He stated that Julius Abure was the sole legitimate and lawfully recognised national chairman of the party, and that Athan Achonu was the only candidate for governor of the party in Imo State.
Obi asked the residents of Imo State to cast their votes in large numbers for Achonu on November 11.
He claimed that the procedure used to select Achonu as the party’s candidate for governor of the state was legitimate.
“Abure is the national chairman of our party,” he declared. There isn’t another chairman here. Imo State will go to LP. The single candidate for the party is Imo State’s top candidate, Athan Achonu. I’m glad the procedure hasn’t been altered. I trust in the process.
“LP desires to transform Nigeria. We are requesting the chance from Nigeria. Nigeria will change if you give us a chance. Today, there is hope in Abia State because of governance.
“We want Nigerian leaders who would follow their own advice. We are aware of what Nigeria needs to improve. We are here for that reason. We are aware of what it takes to alter Imo.
“I trust in the method. Achonu was created using the proper procedure. If you vote for LP, things will start to happen.
Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, claimed to be in charge of the primary election that resulted in Achonu becoming the LP’s nominee for governor in the state.
The governor urged the residents of the state to support Achonu, claiming that even though he had not yet completed 100 days in office, positive changes had already taken place in the state.
The governor declared that the party’s sole candidate for governor is distinguished Senator Athan Achonu. I served as the panel’s chair during the primary election, which led to his victory in the general election. I’m here to attest that he is our choice for governor of Imo State in the election that will be held on November 11.
“The cacophony is everywhere in Abia, and we haven’t even begun. We have been in office in Abia for fewer than 100 days. The Labour Party has a reputation for leadership. Decide to support the Labour Party.
Abure, the party’s national chairman, expressed confidence that the LP will form the state’s next government.
The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, in particular, have failed Nigerians and the residents of the state, according to Abure.
We’ll alter Imo State’s economic myths, he declared. The only candidate for governor from the Labour Party in Imo State is Athan Achonu.
“LP is founded on honesty and effectiveness. The PDP and APC both fell short. PDP and APC were tried, but they were unsuccessful. Insecurity, poverty, and deteriorating infrastructure are their outcomes. The goal of the Labour Party is to alter the narratives. Come November 11, vote for LP and Athan Achonu.
Speaking after receiving the party’s flag, Achonu, the party’s candidate for governor, pledged to improve the state if he were to be elected.
Assuming office as the state’s new governor, Achonu promised to hold local government elections, repair the roads and electricity, put a stop to insecurity, and make sure that civil servants and retirees received their paychecks on time.
He declared that he would break ground by being the first governor who is also physically handicapped.
“The Labour Party will save Nigeria,” declared Achonu. Imo State, Enugu, Kogi, and Bayelsa States will go to us.
When I take office as governor on November 11, there won’t be any more killings in Imo State. No more homes will be set on fire. I’ll put the Local Government Areas’ autonomy into effect once I’m elected governor. I’ll run for LGA office. I won’t interfere with the cash given to the regional government. I’ll see to it that infrastructure is developed. I have a reputation for developing human capital. Imo, the populace is in pain. Pensioners and government employees are suffering. They will receive the appropriate attention once I am elected governor.
“I’m going to invest in the health industry. The more you look at the APC regime, the less you see.
The handing over of the party flag to the party’s governorship candidate marked the event’s high point and kicked off the campaigns in the state by the national chairman of the party.
