In the recently revealed results of the 2023 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination, no less than 10 pupils from the Premiere Academy, Lugbe Abuja, obtained seven A1s or higher. A science student named Master Salmanu Isa Musa led the group with nine consecutive A1 grades.
Golit Gordon Golu and Alamina Daniel Sopriye, two pupils, each received eight A1s and one B in science. Additional four students received A1 grades in seven subjects and C in the other two, while three other students received A1 grades in seven subjects and B in the other two.
All in all, the school scored a perfect score on the exam because every student met the SSCE minimal requirements for tertiary admission in the nation.
Additionally, another Science student at the school, Miss Ulan Andrew Sylvia, achieved a similar feat in the 2020 results, which prompted the government of Plateau State to host her at a special commemorative Executive Council meeting in appreciation of her for bringing honour to her state of origin. This year, Master Salmanu Isa Musa excelled, earning straight As in nine Science subjects.
At a mini-media briefing to announce the school’s 2023 WASSCE results, Mr. Chris Akinsowon, director of academics and administration, revealed that not fewer than 16 of the school’s students who took the 2023 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations scored above 300, affirming the school’s long-standing commitment to academic excellence.
Akinsowon noted that one of the key factors in the school’s success over the years has been the steadfast support of parents, guardians, and institutional partners. He singled out the administration of the NNPC/SNEPCO Cradle-to-Career (NC2C) Programme for their collaboration with the school over the previous eight years in a variety of areas.
He claims that “Premiere Academy takes immense pride in fostering an environment that encourages holistic development and commitment to imparting quality education through the combined efforts of our dedicated teachers, supportive staff and the pivotal commendable role of parents, partners and guardians who, through guidance and encouragement, continue to help our students find their academic journey rewarding and enjoyable in our system”
He pointed out that the school, which was founded in 2005 with the goal of producing students who will grow up to become the pride of the country in various endeavours, has remained unwavering in making sure that its students are guided and shaped by the standards of critical thinking, ethical principles, discipline, and pursuit of high standards.
A proud parent of a student who wished to remain anonymous praised the school for its well-organized system and leadership-building ethos, which, in his opinion, give students the inspiration they need to understand and internalise what can be accomplished through diligence, self-control, and an unquenchable passion for learning.
