Halilu Suleman, age 35, was detained by the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for reportedly possessing 28 pieces of 33kva line spindle pins.
When the suspect was shown to reporters in Katsina on Tuesday, the command’s public relations officer, DSC Buhari Hamisu, claimed that the guy had confessed to the crime.
“On Sunday, August 20, the command’s Anti-Vandal squad captured a suspect, Halilu Suleman, based on reliable intelligence information.
Suleman, a 35-year-old resident of Are Village in the state’s Rimi Local Government Area, is an expert in damaging and removing the electric spindle pins on high tension cables.
The infamous suspect admitted throughout the inquiry that he stole and shattered the spindle pins.
He was stopped by our operatives as he was making his way to the Charanchi Market’s junk dealers, according to Hamisu.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would, according to him, be charged with a crime and prosecuted.
He added that Mr. Jamilu Indabawa, the state commandant of the corps, has warned all criminal elements in the state to stop their wicked deeds because the corps and other security agencies will pursue them tenaciously.
He claims that the commandant urged the populace to assist the security services by providing accurate and timely information that will aid in exposing criminal activity in the state.
The command is still committed to providing a calm atmosphere for the state’s citizens, he declared.
During a press conference, the suspect admitted to committing the crime.
He said that difficulty drove him to commit the crime.
