Emad al-Tarabelsi, the interior minister of Libya, reported that 486 illegal immigrants had been sent back to their various home nations in Africa.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the minister made this statement and said that 294 of the unauthorised immigrants were from Egypt, while the remainder were from other African nations, according to NAN.
Al-Tarabelsi claimed that people who had lately been stranded close to the Tunisian border after being evicted by Tunisian officials were among the deportees.
“The international community and the European Union ought to assist Libya in reducing this issue, which has burdened the nation with the presence of numerous migrants.
“To capture human traffickers and refer them to court, the Ministry of the Interior has started an intensified security campaign.
Al-Tarabelsi stated that future attempts would be increased.
Since the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011, the unrest-plagued nation has emerged as a favourite entry point for unauthorised immigrants seeking to travel across the Mediterranean Sea to European coastlines.
